Thermacare Lumbar and Hip Heat Patch, 1 patch

The ThermaCare heat patch contains a single-use unit for the lower back and hip area. This heat patch does not contain any medication. Its cells are activated upon contact with oxygen in the air and give off heat continuously.

The ThermaCare lumbar patch is designed to wrap around the waist to apply heat to the affected area. It provides up to 8 hours of heat whilst in use. According to the manufacturer, relief may continue for up to 8 hours after removal.

It is indicated for lower back pain and muscle or joint pain associated with fatigue, tension, overexertion, strains, sprains or arthritis.

The heat cells contain iron (approximately 2 g per cell), activated charcoal, salt and water. These components generate heat when exposed to air. It is a CE-marked, Class IIa, non-sterile medical device.

• Open the protective sachet just before use.
• Place the darker side of the cells against the skin and fasten the closure at the front.
• Wait up to 30 minutes for it to reach the intended temperature.
• Remove it after a maximum of 8 hours within a 24-hour period.

Check your skin regularly and remove the patch if you notice excessive heat, irritation or a burning sensation. Do not apply it to broken skin, recent bruises, swelling or areas with no sensation of heat. Do not sleep with the patch on or apply additional pressure to it.

People over the age of 55 should apply it over a layer of clothing. Consult a healthcare professional before use if you have diabetes, heart or circulatory problems, rheumatoid arthritis or are pregnant. Remove it before an MRI scan.
